Starting a celebrancy business is an exciting venture. It’s also a bit daunting - after all, there is so much to organise for the business to get up and running. Why Branding Strategy Matters

Branding is going to be brand new to many of you. But don’t worry, you do not need to be a branding expert to come up with an excellent celebrant brand.

In essence, branding is more than logos and colours, but an entire business identity which works for you in bringing in the right kind of customers. It serves as the foundation to build your business identity.

In a crowded marketplace, branding helps businesses stand out from the competition. It allows you to articulate what makes your celebrancy business unique, and helps customers recognise and remember your business among your peers. Customers who visit your website make a decision about your brand in less than 1 second, so your branding is the first glimmer they get of your business and your first opportunity to make a good impression.

Strong branding can influence the perceived value of your service. A well-positioned brand will emphasise the important parts of your business, and highlight its value and offering more clearly than those with weak branding. In fact, businesses with efficient branding can influence the buying decisions of customers by nearly 50%

A well-crafted brand also instils trust and credibility in the minds of your customers. Consistent branding gives you an air of professionalism, reliability, and quality, meaning people are more likely to choose a brand they trust over one they’re unfamiliar with.

So where do you begin in achieving the right branding for you? The first thing you can do is join our CPD on branding and rebranding, where an expert can guide you and give you customised advice.

How To Create a Brand Strategy

Before diving into branding decisions, take the time to think about what sets your celebrancy business apart from others. What unique qualities, values, or approaches do you bring to the table? Perhaps you specialise in crafting personalised ceremonies that reflect the individuality of each client, or maybe you have a particular expertise in cultural fusion or LGBTQ+ ceremonies. Understanding your unique value proposition will inform all aspects of your branding strategy.

You should then identify your target audience. Consider the demographics, preferences, and needs of your ideal clients. Are you targeting couples planning their wedding ceremonies, families organising funerals or memorials, or individuals seeking meaningful rituals for life transitions? If you think that your ideal client is everyone and anyone, then you haven’t understood branding and marketing.

You can then begin to craft your brand identity. Think about your business name, logo, colours, typography, and imagery. Choose a business name that is memorable, reflective of your values, and easy to pronounce and spell. Your logo should visually convey the essence of your celebrancy business, whether it’s through symbols, icons, or typography. Select colours and fonts that are associated with your business messaging.

Beyond this, think about your brand voice. This is the language you use, the tone and personality of your messaging. Are you warm and compassionate? Professional and matter-of-fact? Creative and whimsical? Tailor your brand voice to align with the emotions and experiences you aim to evoke in your clients.

Make sure you ask friends and family to ask for feedback on your branding, in particular those who meet your target demographic. Always be prepared to revisit your branding, as you may not get it 100% right the first time.
